ABOUT THIS JOB

An experienced Mud Engineer is required to join our Drilling & Completion Fluids team on a high-profile project. An opportunity to be part of the Nigeria Drilling & Completion Fluids business. Synthetic-based Mud experience is required. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES

Without on-site supervision, provides onsite services by measuring, testing, and supervising the running of fluid mixing and pumping, including technical analysis and specific product and practical recommendations for controlling fluid properties.Maintains fluid properties on rig sites by testing fluid properties accurately.Maintains inventory at customer well sites.Must provide effective customer service by providing rig-site customers and coordinators information regarding the progress of a rig site and create/implement solutions to rig site problems.May make sales calls on the field and field office level or accompany Sales Representative performing the same function.Performs other related duties as required.Provide ongoing support to assist operations in providing our customers the most effective, environmentally safe drilling fluids available while optimizing the well-bore construction process and maximizing our customers' production.Conducts all business activities in accordance with Baker Hughes HSE policies, Legal Compliance requirements and Baker Hughes Core Values  

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

Minimum of 5 years experience as a Mud EngineerAbility to alternate methods of completing tasks if the set method is not viable.Communicate with various clients and must have good customer service skills.Quickly adjusts to changing job assignments/requirementsStrong English language proficiency, both written and verbal

Under broad direction, provides well site service to customers of Baroid.  Utilizes knowledge of company products and services in conjunction with experience in drilling fluid technology to optimize service quality.  Based on interpreted results of routine and specialized testing, provides technical guidance of Baroid’s customized engineered fluids to maximize wellbore value. Complies with health, safety and environmental regulations in all aspects of job performance. Ensures that an adequate inventory of palletized and bulk products are available at the rig site based on the fluid program and anticipated conditions. Tracks material usage and maintains record of same for inventory and billing purposes. Maintains good working relationship with operator's representative and rig personnel.  Skills are typically acquired through completing a minimum of 10 weeks of formal training in colloidal and general chemistry, volume and hydraulics calculations, routine and specialized testing.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

Candidate must possess a minimum of 6 years’ experience on a drilling rig both onshore and offshore,specifically performing Fluids Engineering operations. Deepwater experience will be an added advantage.Have a proven track record of working safely and effectively using Water base mud and Synthetic/Oil base mudsHave a record of Industry Training from a recognised Oilfield Industry establishment. Strong on-site operational knowledge of drilling practices and procedures.Be computer literate with a proficient knowledge of mainstream (universal) software packages.Fluent and professional communication in English language, both spoken and written.
