Job Description
We are looking for a Channel Marketing Manager based in Lagos, Nigeria to provide strategic direction and operational execution through the inspiration and management of the creation and execution of channel marketing strategies in the Area. This will ensure consumer connection at all retail / operator channels – to drive traffic to retail, convert visits to purchase, and reinforce the Nokia brand position and credentials. Note that the travel requirement could be up to 60% of this individual’s time due to a strong focus on driving the growth agenda of markets such as Senegal, Ghana, DRC, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Niger etc.
The Channel Marketing strategic imperative will be to focus on the key business/ sales drivers by channel with a clear understanding of the associated consumer insights which when combined with the consistent execution of Brand position will deliver against the ROI of the consumer retail journey.
His/her responsibilities will include crafting of retail / operator strategy, development to execution stage of all retail initiatives across all West Africa countries, as well as driving the neighboring markets (not exclusive to but including Senegal, Ivory Coast, Cameroon, DRC etc.) growth strategy through a focus on retail and targeted TTL marketing.
The Channel Marketing Manager will work closely with the broader marketing team, sales, care, DX and region (Dubai & Global), to ensure the strategy and executions are aligned to the campaign marketing initiatives as well as the agreed retail / operator strategies.
The individual will be expected to show strong leadership, strategic thinking, mental agility, business acumen and project planning and implementation ability.
Main Responsibility Areas: Leading local strategy development for Channel marketing for the Area, aligning with Regional / Global strategy. Develop Retail, Operator & Neighboring Countries growth strategy to be included in GTM decks and ensure execution thereof Collaborating with Retail Marketing Managers across countries within West Africa to ensure all scoped strategies are aligned across the area and are executed to drive sales conversion Develop all retail artwork to execution (print) stage for all markets Develop operator, wholesale (including cluster & sub-wholesalers), retail propositions and drive growth of these key channels Build understanding of consumer insights for the Area in on order to incorporate clear strength in consumer needs, wants, attitudes and behaviors leading to more relevant, consumer connectivity and more effective marketing strategy. Ensure all initiatives across countries are measured, tracked and analyzed with clear post implementation review to understand what worked, what didn’t etc. Drive collaboration across the business with regards to operator, retail, neighboring countries strategies & implementation plans Channel Marketing Planning Develop an appropriate strategic plan to support to each initiative looking at the consumer’s shopping experience with a 360 approach (traffic drivers, windows, walk ways, product, sales associates, visual merchandising, etc). Drive execution of above strategic plans Ensure a calendar for key channels around growth accelerators, key retail periods is executed. Ensure that Marketing needs (brand image) and Sales needs (business growth, key account business, sell-in, sell-out) are well balanced and supported in the strategies Participate in Marketing Strategic Planning to contribute to Channel Brand Marketing’s role in supporting the business growth consistently and to sustain the brand image. Lead market trips with various stakeholders to share thoughts in the field. Consumer Connection Have a detailed understanding and knowledge of consumer insights in order to ensure brand connections are in line with consumer’s desires and needs. Cultivating consumer centricity to ensure best brand connections across all themes at a retail level. Creative Excellence Drive creative excellence by driving the agency process around creative channel development executions to final sign-off stage Event Activation Be responsible for coming up with strategic concepts for Operator / Channel events and the execution thereof.

Qualifications & Experience Ability to travel >60% of the time Understanding and proven track record of retail environment Shopper insights mind-set At least 5+ years of relevant previous work experience in consumer marketing (shopper/retail/trade) roles and evidence of a consumer driven marketing mind-set Excellent presentation, process and project management skills, maturity and demonstrated track record to interface with senior leadership and senior customer audiences Excellent collaboration skills and ability to network strongly across organization and key stakeholders Bachelors or Master's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or equivalent Telecom or FMCG industry experience
