Analyze the financial impact of proposed logistics changes, such as routing, shipping modes, product volumes or mixes, or carriers.Collaborate with other departments to integrate logistics with business systems or processes, such as customer sales, order management, accounting, or shipping.Create policies or procedures for logistics activities.Direct inbound or outbound logistics operations, such as transportation or warehouse activities, safety performance, or logistics quality management.Establish or monitor specific supply chain-based performance measurement systems.Implement specific customer requirements, such as internal reporting or customized transportation metrics.Maintain metrics, reports, process documentation, customer service logs, or training or safety records.Negotiate with suppliers or customers to improve supply chain efficiency or sustainability.Plan or implement improvements to internal or external logistics systems or processes.Resolve problems concerning transportation, logistics systems, imports or exports, or customer issues.Supervise the work of logistics specialists, planners, or schedulers.Communicate freight transportation information to customers or suppliers, using transportation management, electronic logistics marketplace, or electronic freight information systems, to improve efficiency, speed, or quality of transportation services.Recommend optimal transportation modes, routing, equipment, or frequency.Analyze all aspects of corporate logistics to determine the most cost-effective or efficient means of transporting products or supplies.Develop risk management programs to ensure continuity of supply in emergency scenarios.Direct distribution center operation to ensure achievement of cost, productivity, accuracy, or timeliness objectives.Ensure carrier compliance with company policies or procedures for product transit or delivery.Design models for use in evaluating logistics programs or services.Negotiate transportation rates or services.Participate in carrier management processes, such as selection, qualification, or performance evaluation.Review global, national, or regional transportation or logistics reports for ways to improve efficiency or minimize the environmental impact of logistics activities.Desired skills and expertise:
Cognate experience in logistics management with coordination of more than 20 warehousesInformation gathering and AnalysisSound analysis of problems, and excellent solving skillsProven leadership skillsA minimum of B.Sc degree (Second Class Hounours, Upper Division) in the Physical, Social or Management Sciences. Specialized training in Supply Chain, Transportation or Logistics Management will be an advantage.Ensure the achievement of quantitative and qualitative regional sales and financial Key Performance Indicators through effective sales planning and management processes for key accounts and retail channelsoperational objectives by contributing regional sales information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; completing audits; identifying trends; determining regional sales system improvements; implementing changeAccomplish regional sales human resource objectives by recruiting, training and supervising the regional team in line with the policies and procedures of the companyIdentify and configure new opportunities by working with the research and technical development team to develop products and solutions that address the local needs f the farmers we serveImplement trade promotions by publishing, tracking, and evaluating trade spendingUpdate job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networksExperience and capacity demonstrated by a current role in management with a direct team achievement of at least N 2bn per annum.Demonstrable excellent sales and people management skills obtained in a reputable organizationExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsMust be computer literate and able to work with minimum supervisionA very good first degree in Agriculture, the Social Sciences or Business Administration obtained from a reputable university.
