Food and Agriculture organization (FAO) supports countries on technical issues related to forestry and the development of cost effective and reliable monitoring, measurement, reporting and verification (M.MRV) processes for emissions reduction. FAO requires the services of the following:

NATIONAL MVR (MONITORING, REPORTING & VERIFICATION) EXPERT

DUTY STATION: Calabar, Main office at the Cross River State Forest Service, with in-country travel one year, full time

REQUIREMENTS

Advanced university degree in Forestry or closely related field with emphasis on Forest Inventory, Remote Sensing and GISNot less than 5 years of relevant professional experienceCompetence in Forest information systems and information management and experience in capacity building, forest modeling and MRV implementation is preferableGood knowledge of climate change and REDD+ as well as UNFCCC/IPCC technical procedures and guidelines for the forestry sectorStrong statistical and data analysis skills are desirableExcellent abilities in project coordination and monitoring as well as demonstrated experience in coordinating multiple activities in a programmatic situationAbility to meet strict deadlines and follow budgetary targetsDemonstrated field experience in Nigeria with strong knowledge of relevant Nigerian institutions in REDDStrong interpersonal skills, especially oral communication skills and must be willing to carry out presentations on the project status and its different componentsExperience working in inter-cultural environments and relevant working experience for an international or multi-lateral organization are a plusInternational travels may also be requiredProficiency in both written and spoken English is required
