This position is based in Lagos- Nigeria.

Develop and monitors HSE related policies,procedures and systems to provide for a safe operationEstablishes internal and external networks to seek out best practices and ensure continuous improvement within the organisationInspect facilities and risk assesses standard operating procedures to select existing or potential hazardsAdvise department managers on incident findings and assist with the development of corrective actions for use by company personnel and outside agenciesLead high severity investigationsCooperates in the preparation of material and evidence for the company in hearing lawsuits and insurance investigationsDevelops toolbox talks based on incidents findings from internal or external sources and general safety informationAdvise the manager director and senior management on HSE strategiesRepresents the company with local government organization to ensure a mutual understanding of the organisation goals and requirements and cooperate with local resources to ensure compliance with local and international legislationComplies and submit HSE report required by regulatory agencies,shipping lines and company interestsMaintains up to date information and knowledge in the area of HSE and communicate to required parties within the terminalDevelops and arranges basic HSE related trainings including but not limited to safety inductions, basic first aid, emergency response etcPerform other HSE related duties as assignedA relevant university degree in business management or engineering disciplineAt least 10 years experience in HSE of a container terminalFinancial management skills is essentialCertificate in occupational health and safety from recognized institutionRequires a proven record of HSE management experience from port operations or heavy equipment industryEffective leadership skillsRequires a proven track record of increasing work responsibilityFluent in English Language (written and spoken) and good report writing skillsExcellent interpersonal and listening skillsProficiency in microsoft office applicationsEffective conflict resolution and negotiation skills
