Job Opening:

QC Welding Inspector

Purpose

·         Performs complete pre and post weld inspection by measuring dimensions, such as bevel angles, root gaps, mismatch and Hi-lo using instruments such as specific welding gauges, to ensure products meets the required specifications.

·         Performs verification on materials for traceability process

·         Reports quality problems or findings to QC Coordinator and/or Quality Control Manager, and follows up to ensure that corrective action has/will take place.

Key aims and objectives

·         Complete surveillance activity (standard Check Lists, QC Guidelines) with experienced  feedback.

·         Ensure that the Quality Control Inspection resources are performance in their relative discipline and that records of these assessments are maintained.

·         Assist the Departments in the development and follow up of specific Action Plans to permit continuous improvement.

Prime Responsibilities and Duties

·         Assist in the adequate close-out of non-conformity, deviation requests, concession requests and technical queries

·         Check that requirements set in the Inspection and Test Plan (ITP) are met at the control points

·         Insure project specifications are being met.

·         Oversight of fabrication activities

·         Provide data for quality metrics

·         Interacting with client representatives, interacting with client management, providing QA/QC support to construction personnel,

·         Maintain up to date and share a set of projects procedures, work instructions, as necessary to promote common practices.

Other Duties:

·         Maintain up to date and share a set of procedures, work instructions, induction presentations as necessary to promote common practices.

·         Assists and/or trains operators on visual acceptability, and measurement and process procedures as required.

Reports:

·         Verification for accuracy and content of all NDT reports

·         Verification / Review of As Built Date books.

The Person

·         Understanding of quality plans, inspection techniques & documentation

·         Sound knowledge of ISO 9001:2008 (essential)

·         Working Knowledge of International Codes & Standards

·         Experience in root cause analysis, NC investigation, corrective and preventive actions

·         Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.

·         Previous relevant experience in a QC role, preferably in the oil & gas industry, with a minimum of 5years documented evidence.

·         Ability to work independently and in a team environment

·         Demonstrate good communication skills, along with an ability to manage and work in a team environment, as well as an ability to work unsupervised and exercise initiative to resolve potential problems.

·         Must demonstrate an ability to effectively utilise dedicated resources, and the ability to plan, control, and take responsibility for own work.

·         Current and/or previous experience of inspection in at least 2 NDT disciplines (preferable)

·         Current Internationally recognised certificate for weld inspection (essential)

clients’ needs depending on the type of inspection required.
• Responsible for executing the tests using the procedures and methods to
determine maximum quality of the product.
• Responsible for inspecting duties, organizes and generates reports pertaining to
inspection and evaluation.
• Expected to prepare reports on all testing and evaluations done.
• Responsible for ensuring that the equipments used for testing are all functioning
to its maximum and according to safety regulations.
• Responsible for endorsing the equipments to repair.

HSE Inspector at Deep Blue Energy Services Limited

ACTIVITIES
The FPSO HSE Inspector will report on permanent basis to FPSO HSE Supervisor. The role will also have functional reporting line to the FPSO HSE Superintendent and FPSO HSE Manager. Be based at Construction yard in Various locations in Lagos, the SERVICEholder will have responsibility to monitor the implementation of Company HSE Project HSE requirements and the SHI HSE Project procedures.HSE and Security is given the first priority throughout all phases of the FPSO and that corresponding requirements are properly implemented by all involved.

The SERVICE holder is directly responsible to:
•     Ensuring at least 90\%availability on site, patrolling to identify unsafe acts and unsafe conditions.
•     Ensuring that hazards in workplace are properly identified and corrected immediately where possible, or reported to Company and Contractor management.
•     Ensuring that all activities carried out on site are duly approved by Contractor’s PTW system and an approved Work Order is issued.
•     Ensuring that JSA is conducted for all critical activities and that the hazard control measures are in place before commencement of work.
•     As may be required, participate in Risk Assessment reviews. PTW administration, site tours or any other Contractor HSE supervision function.
•     Perform HSE inspection of work sites and issue daily report to Company through the HSE Supevisor.
•     Stop every activity that can lead to an incident or injury of personnel and ensure that the risk is controlled before work resumes.
•     Closely follow up with the implementation of HSE procedures on construction sites of contractors and subcontractors.
•     Participate in daily toolbox meetings with the contractor’s HSE supervisors on site.
•     Advise Company HSE Supervisor on resources and materials required for adequate coverage of HSE supervision of site.
•     Monitor the implementation and close-out of HSE actions from anomaly reports, inspection and audits of contractor and subcontractor sites assigned.
•     Ensure that contractors and sub-contractors comply with all the relevant HSE requirements as per Contractor’s HSE procedures, Company HSE expectations and other relevant international regulations and standards.
•     When designated, participate in incident investigations and ensure that relevant information is obtained from sources.

ACCOUNTABILITIES
The SERVICE holder shall be fully accountable and directly responsible for:
•     Participate when designated, frequent site visit and  workshop around sites when required.
•     Assist in the full implementation of approved Project HSE Plan and contractual HSE requirements in all activities of the FPSO Package by company team, contractor and subcontractors.
•     Assist HSE Supervisor on safety and security awareness and promotion of best practices with adequate emphasis on COMPANY Golden Rules.

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
•   Degree in Engineering or Safety Related Certification.
•  Minimum 5 years working experience in the Oil and Gas production projects, with minimum 3 years on position(s) of similar HSE responsibilities. Experience in shipyard recommended.
•  Thorough knowledge of risk assessment techniques, SERVICE safety analysis.
•  Administrative skills including proficiency in typical office applications (Words, Excel, PowerPoint, etc).
• Fluent in English and ability to communicate well at all levels within the Company.
•  Geographical mobility.
