Responsibilities:

Under the responsibility of the Vendor QC Coordinator (reporting line) based in SQY and the IMS Construction Superintendent, the Material/Welding Engineer shall supervise and validate with UFR Contractor/Subcontractor all Material and welding engineering activities either for structure or piping (STR or PLR disciplines) in all Out-of Country vendor sites and at IMS fabrication yard in Italy.

Will be in charge of:

Reviewing all relevant Engineering / Qualification / Manufacturing / Fabrication / Testing documents for the IMS yard throughout construction phase and for all other Out Country Vendor procurement activities as may be assigned.
This includes typically material selection/specifications, corrosion issues, welding procedures, welding qualifications, testing procedures, ITP, technical reports, etc.
Assisting in the resolution of interface issues as necessary
Assisting in analysis of UFR Contractor Site technical queries/deviation requests/concession requests and preparation of comments and proposed answers to these Site queries.
Providing technical assistance and relevant quality controls during site construction
Reporting to the Site Superintendent Construction / Vendor QC Coordinator on a regular basis, and to Project’s

Management upon request:

Proposing technical solutions / way forward with respect to materials and welding technical issues in case of unexpected difficulties during the fabrication and manufacturing with the help of Engineering Team based in Lagos.
Getting assistance from Company Specialists, or third parties, if required, for specific topics.
Ensuring that Contractors / Subcontractors perform Welding inspection activities on site in accordance with company standards.

Service Description:

Project requirements, specified acceptance criteria and the contracted scope of work.
Reviewing and monitoring welding activities executed by the EGINA UFR Contractor, Subcontractors &
Suppliers on site.
Assisting and providing all necessary help to close CAR, NCR occurred during the site construction.

HSE

To ensure that an effective implementation of HSEQ requirements is applied, as appropriate at site.
To demonstrate evidence of his relationship to safety with clear communication on site about commitment to safety.
To ensure that risk assessment prior to starting of a new activity is properly conducted and understood by personnel involved
To continuously assess safety behaviour of personnel and intervene with a pro-active approach explaining and coaching.
To take every opportunity at site to communicate with workforce about safety, listening on difficulties, sharing his/her own experience and proposing applicable solutions.
To be involved in incident investigation and follow-up actions implementation
Participate in safety tours and visits on site defined by UFR.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Reports directly to UFR Vendor QC Coordinator in SQY and also to the IMS Construction Superintendent.
Work closely with NDE and Welding inspector.
Directly responsible for follow up on site to see that all construction activities are done in full compliance with General Specifications and International codes as well as good industry practices regarding material and welding aspects.
Accountable for the proper implementation of Project Technical requirements (Project Specifications)

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Welding Engineer with 10 years’ experience in the Oil and Gas or Petrochemical Industries.
Graduate of Welding Engineering (or equivalent).
International Welding Engineering certification.
Good knowledge of international design codes / standards and COMPANY general specifications (TEC/STR and TEC/PLR).
Knowledge in corrosion aspects.
Team oriented, good communication, motivational, coordination and delegation skills.
Fluent in English both verbally and in writing.
Knowledge of the Italian Language will be an added advantage
