Our client who are a global technology business who design and supply advanced technologies to a broad range of commercial and industrial customers, are currently recruiting for a Delivery Manager on a permanent basis, located in Nigeria, Port Harcourt.
ROLE OVERVIEW
The Delivery Manager will have overall responsibility for delivery operations in the Nigerian offices. They will be responsible for meeting the targets for the business unit in terms of profit, revenue, cash and utilisation. The Delivery Manager will also be responsible for capability and capacity planning of the department, including line management of the engineering, project management and service functions of the business.
JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Line management for Delivery team including appraisal, training, administrative control and skills profiling. Motivate, develop and evaluate assigned personnel and to advise on salary plans and other employee benefit programs. Working with the HR partner(s) to assist in the interview and selection of staff.Setting and communicating overall project strategy, to ensure compliance with customer requirements, maximisation of project margins, scope growth and most effective utilisation of engineering resources. Evaluate current and future workload and proactively work to optimise resource assignment utilisation.Develop strategies for meeting/exceeding in-country requirements such as local content. Manage succession planning and development of high-potential staff. Develop skills matrices and define future requirements to set training requirements.Work closely with HR partner(s) to manage Union relations.Technically and commercially lead the teams. Coordinate and lead the Service function including Service Level Agreements, break-fix and upgrade work.Support to Senior Management in the development and introduction of new or revised practices, tools or policies. Full engagement and utilisation of global engineering initiatives such as work-bench.Responsible for supporting recruitment programs and liaising closely with HR to identify potential candidates during the process. Tasked with managing graduates / trainees during their training programme period and assigning suitable mentors. Ensure that IPMS / pay reviews are completed within defined timescales.Hold monthly Project / Service reviews for all Nigerian contracts and ensure all standard review techniques and tools are used. Provide a monthly report to line manager stating position of all key KPI's (orders, profit, cash, revenue and utilisation).Full support to Sales & Proposals function including provision of engineering estimates and risk analysis in the selling process and the production of proposal contentENSURE ALL ASPECTS OF THE ENGINEERING LIFECYCLE ARE DELIVERED INCLUDING:
System specification, design, implementation and review for in-house and 3rd party supply.Work package identification, estimation & planning.Resource identification, sourcing, monitoring and control.Validation of system design and architecture, appreciation of the application software structure, verification of configuration specification, hardware specification, processor and marshalling cabinet layout and system interface to the field.Technical compliance to customer's specification.Technical co-ordination of client factory/site acceptance tests.PROVIDE SUPPORT FUNCTIONS AS FOLLOWS:Prepare engineering estimates for customer quotations.Coordinate engineering and project management support to sales staff, including pre-order discussions with prospective clients and engineering estimates.Supervise technical support to Services, including support to Field Service and Customer Training.Arrange training for engineering and project management functions.Provide evaluation of vendor equipment.QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND BACKGROUND EXPERIENCE
HNC or equivalent level in Engineering related subject. Thorough knowledge of Company products.Degree in Engineering related subject. Commercial / business qualification.Detailed product training/experience.Chartered status with a recognised professional body.Proven track record of leading a team with a strong engineering and project management background (typically +10 year's experience) within a leading automation company.Extensive experience in the commercial and contractual execution of automation projects (typically $500K - $5M contract size).Highly motivated individual and experienced project professional with good communication skills & team leadership.An inspirational leader and someone who commands respect through their knowledge and leadership skills.Initiative, self-motivation and ability to adapt to changing circumstances.Able to multitask to handle the various parallel demands of the business..
