Learning and Development Specialist - Orlean Training Academy

This new role reports to the Orlean Academy Manager, providing essential support in first class implementation of in-house training learning and development interventions/outcomes. The successful candidate must have relevant experience in training and development functions in large corporate environments preferably with international exposure.

This is an excellent opportunity for a highly organized and self-motivated person. Our ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic team player with previous experience of influencing corporate training/HR agendas with senior business managers and proven skills in training design and facilitation.

The key responsibilities of the role include:

Actively involved to design, map/chart overall group training plan to meet identified needsAssist with the annual training needs identification and analysis activities across our partner organizations and develop strategies to close identified gaps.Liaise and consult with other entities' training managers to identify individual, group and organizational training needs.   Integrate identified learning and development needs and ensure these are appropriately scheduled for delivery in line with identified priorities and business needs.Support entities to ensure all functional learning paths are in place and aligned to career planning.   Contribute to the design and implementation of the group Learning strategy in line with the strategic direction to build a learning organization aligned to career paths, capabilities etc.Supports and facilitates the formulation and implementation of processes, standards and policies related to training & learning development.Identify, establish, encourage and promote all forms of on-the-job learning with line managers, and various other avenues such that training courses are seen as only part of a total solution.   Facilitate development programmes to ensure that learning objectives are agreed & achieved.

    Innovation

Allocate financial resources in the most efficient and effective manner possible by applying continuous cost-control mechanisms. Ensures that financial resources are set at an appropriate level to deliver required solutions.Scan and benchmark against other companies to identify key areas of opportunity to    enhance processes, tools etc.Design and facilitate academy courses that will reduce reliance on outsourced training providers but also provide revenue streams.Ensure integrity and consistency of all learning processes within the business

Candidate profile

1. The position requires the jobholder to ideally have a Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or Training or other Business-related field. Senior L&D/OD practitioner with experience of coordinating a corporate learning and development agenda in a large, multi-site organization (Ideally, experience will also reflect provision of training in a MNC subsidiary and/or within a large industrial, manufacturing, FMCG or retail operating environment).

2. Progressive HR experience of 7 years or more and broad knowledge of learning and development preferably in an international context with professional qualification in Human Resources (CIPMN. CIPD).

3. In-depth specialist knowledge in all areas of training design and management (plan, budget, deliver and evaluate a large and varied corporate training and learning events) and experience of applying this knowledge in a very complex business environment.

4. Ability to communicate fluently and persuasively in the English language (in writing, over the phone, by e-mail, reports, meetings, presentations, facilitating focus groups and class-room based learning).

5. Ability to plan, prioritize and schedule multiple project plans and related activities, allocating people and other resources to make sure things happen and work is delivered on time and to budget.

6. Advanced skills in MS Office, especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint & Outlook. Use of other HR/L&D Information systems and databases and also LMS is highly desirable.

7. Knowledge and understanding of how new technologies are being used to develop and support corporate learning needs and the challenges/solutions involved in integrating them with traditional classroom based learning

Aptitude Test:

Workforce Assessment Centre:

This is a focused assessment designed to check various competencies using different assessment methods, which may include a combination of any of the following; audition, presentation, interview, team task, among others

Qualifying Interview:

This is the last phase of assessment prior to the Academy. You will be interviewed by the Lead Consultant/panel of Business Managers. This a structured interview strictly based on the competency requirements for the entrance into the Academy or of Workforce management Centre as a whole.

Academy Assessments:

The Governing Council of the Maritime Academy of Nigeria, Oron hereby announces that the position of Registrar of the Academy is vacant. In accordance with the provisions of the establishing Act, CAP M3 LFN 2010 (formerly, Decree No.16 of 1988 ) and in exercise of its powers as contained in Section 8 of the Act, the Governing Council wishes to commence the process of filling the vacancy.

Position: Registrar

The Academy

The Maritime Academy of Nigeria, Oron (MAN, Oron) has the unique privilege of being the first maritime training institution statutorily established in Nigeria. The Academy has the following functions:To admit and train the various levels of personnel required for running and operating ships of the merchant navy.To train technical manpower for ports, marine engineering, workshops, piloting and navigation, marine insurance, hydrography and other related services; andTo provide such other forms of instructions as the Academy may, from time to time, decide to undertake. The Academy is in the process of transforming into a degree awarding institution.

Duties

The Registrar shall be responsible to the Rector for the day-to-day administration of the Academy and shall be the secretary of the Council, the Academic Board and other statutory Committees.

Conditions of Service

The conditions of service of the Registrar shall include the following:Consolidated salary attached to the Office of the Registrar;Other fringe benefits attached to the Office of the Registrar as obtained in the conditions of service of the  AcademyTenure of appointment of four (4) years from the date of appointment which may be renewed for a further four (4) years term only.

Qualification & Experience

Candidates for the position of Registrar should possess a good honors degree from a recognized university plus, at least, 17 years cognate experience: or a holder of a Master’s Degree from a recognized university, plus at least 15 years cognate experience; or a holder of Doctorate degree plus, at least 12 years cognate experience. In the alternative, the candidate must possess a good honours degree from a recognized university and must have attained the position not lower than Deputy Registrar in a recognized tertiary institution.Membership of recognized professional bodies will be an added advantage

The person must be able to instill confidence in others and command the loyalty and respect of people.
