Qualification

Relevant trade test(s) and SSCE. Higher qualifications are added advantages.

Prime Responsibilities

5- 8 years minimum working experience in the fabrication field.Trade Test Certification. 1&2 labour & productivity or Engineering background.Good safety practices i.e.  Understanding of HSE.Conversant with abbreviations, signs & codes.Ability to identify fittings & materials.Ability to understand and interpret simple and complex structural fabrication drawing.Ability to use all fabrication /Fitting equipment and instrumentMust understand tools and equipment management.Awareness of safety rules and standard of the industry.

Experience

5- 8 years minimum working experience in the fabrication field.Must have worked on a structural fitting   project.Working experience on an EPC project will be an additional advantage

• To be conversant with the Project HS&E Plan. Proactively participate in achieving the highest possible International standard of HSE implementation

• Ensure structural activities are achieved within schedule and compliant with Health, Safety, Environment & Quality requirements.

• Ensure that “Safety First” is the policy and culture adopted throughout the project execution.

• Ensure that plant and workforce are identified to meet the requirements of the Contract Master Schedule (CMS).

• Ensure labour forecasting is carried out with Fabrication Manager with consideration to overall cost forecast for Fabrication activities and Provides feedback to Senior Construction manager

• Ensure discipline structural meetings are regularly carried out and are recorded.

• Ensure all heavy lifting is carried out to the Nigerdock Lifting Operations procedure.

• Ensure Work-packs are produced in line with plan with material available.

• Ensure fabrications are completed with the erection teams input to detail / weld ability and constructability.

• Ensure all fabrications leaving the workshops are NDT complete and released correctly.

• Ensure structural part assemblies are NDT clear and formally released for paint

• Ensure build methods are approved by all parties.

• Ensure Scaffold access is in place for activities commence on time to the plan.

• Ensure release is in place for outfitting activities to commence.

• Checks Progress in Fabrication Shops.

• Deputieses in the absense of Snr Construction manager

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

The Senior Structural Supt reports to and is directly accountable to the Snr Construction Manager.

Qualifications :                

• Bachelor Degree in Engineering

• Project Management PMI level is an advantage

• At least 10 years’ experience within the Offshore Oil & Gas Construction Industry working on projects

• Experience with execution of EPCC and or Fabrication & Construction projects encompassing Jackets, Topsides, Subsea Structures, Processing Modules, Risers, Protection Structures, etc.

The Person has

• Good communication, leadership and people management skills

• Commercial mind-set

• Solution driven

• Self-starter

• Fluent in English. Working knowledge of French is an advantage

About this job

ACTIVITIES

To supervise and follow-up under his discipline the Construction and associated pre-commissioning activities Related to Nigerian Content (NC) packages, up to end of Construction and load-out/integration works. Activities · Prepares monitors and expedites structural fabrication, assembly and completion activities carried out by Contractor or subcontractors related to his discipline until sail away for pressure vessels and FPSO integration in Nigeria. · Assists the structural superintendent his duties covering all construction phases, including construction methods, yards prefabrications, construction, structural assembly and completion as related to his discipline. He attends meetings as required by his hierarchy. He implements his hierarchy instructions and organizes his inspection team accordingly. · Ensure that all construction activities related to his discipline are performed safely and efficiently in line with company objectives. · Review procedures and site queries in due time related to structural at site. · Monitor structural preparations for installation of equipment and/or structural assembly part including removal and re-instatement of deck/module. · Ensure contractor to follow and comply with requirement of Company specification GS STR. · Reviews structural material certificates arrived at workshop together with QA/QC superintendent. · Monitor QC activities within his discipline. · Establish a smooth and efficient working relationship with CONTRACTOR. · To maintain good relationships with contractors, being relatively flexible, proactive but also strict when necessary to achieve the objectives of the project. · To ensure that safety remains the main priority on the construction site at all times. · Attend the toolbox meetings.   · He participates in the preparation of As Built documentation.   HSE · Promote the implementation of Project HSEQ management system and rules in all construction activities. · To stay vigilant and maintain continuous awareness of hazards and surroundings. · To participate to local programs or initiatives to improve HSSE performances. · To report to Management on any issue they may face or observe and propose way of improvement. · To also take care of colleague’s safety and behaviour without hesitating to intervene as much as necessary. · To carefully assess hazards and risks when changes occur. · To give his own input and making sure the workplace is safe (obviously clean and tidy). I am currently looking to recruit a Structural Project Engineer to be based in Nigeria for an international Oil & Gas contractor on a 12 month fixed term contract.

The ideal candidate will be able to coordinate, supervise and verify the shopdrawing preparation activity; you will be conversant with TEKLA & AutoCAD and will be able to coordinate a team of draughtsman whilst managing the design subcontractor.

Offshore fabrication experience is essential for this position.
