 BACKGROUND: Founded in 1933, the International Rescue Committee is a prominent international organization working in relief, rehabilitation, protection, post-conflict development, resettlement services and advocacy for those uprooted or affected by violent conflict and oppression.

IRC has been present in Nigeria since 2012 when the organization responded to flooding in Kogi state. In early 2014, IRC opened a field office in Mubi town of Adamawa state in NE Nigeria. IRC has ECHO, OFDA, and Gates funds to respond to health, nutrition, GBV, and WASH activities. In September 2014, IRC received additional funds to carry out emergency food distributions, shelter support, and NFI distributions to newly displaced IDPs. IRC also received funds to carry out a child protection rapid assessment and program start up activities.

Job Title:  Women’s Protection and Empowerment Coordinator

SCOPE OF WORK:

The GBV Coordinator will be responsible for general management of WPE programs, provision of technical support, donor compliance and contribute to the development of WPE programming in Nigeria. The GBV Coordinator will be  based in Yola, Adamawa state with frequent and regular travel in Abuja and potentially elsewhere as programs expand.

MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY

Program Implementation

Utilize IRC’s GBV program tools and approach developed for GBV programming in AdamawaDevelop program work plan and activities consistent with the goals and objectives of the program.Compile monthly data using GBV Information Management SystemProvide managerial oversight to GBV staffCreate linkages between the different components of IRC Nigeria program with a view to integrating the components into the overall strategyProvide training, mentoring and support to staffs partners in order to strengthen local capacity and sustainabilitySupervise psychosocial support to survivors of GBV, including case management and referralsProvide oversight and monitor GBV project activities to ensure all activities are safe, gender-sensitive, and client-centered, in accordance with international standards

TA Child Protection Specialist, P-3/P-4, at UNICEF Nigeria

Purpose of the Position:

The Child Protection Specialist will focus on protecting children from violence, abuse, exploitation while in the temporary shelters and not separated from their families. The consultant will also work with the national Protection of Children Cluster Working Group (PCCWG) and the Health Cluster for information sharing for the Myanmar emergency response at the regional level. The Psychosocial Specialist will also need to liaise with various organizations to assess mental health needs, design programmes to address those needs and evaluate psychosocial programme results. These activities are aimed at empowering young people and at reducing their vulnerability.

Key Expected Results:

Work with the Protection of Children Cluster Working Group (PCCWG) and the Health Cluster to establish and
interagency mental health and psychosocial coordination mechanism.Contribute to the coordination among the governmental bodies, non-governmental organizations (national and
international) and UN agencies working on psychosocial support and mental health in Myanmar based on the IASC
Guidelines on Mental Health and Psychosocial Support in Emergency Settings.As appropriate, strengthen awareness, understanding and use of the IASC Guidelines on Mental Health and
Psychosocial Support among UNICEF partners and other organizations.Collect and analyze data for situation analysis, programmed/project planning, management, monitoring and evaluation of psychosocial needs and capacities for children affected by the disaster.Support the development and sharing of common planning, monitoring and evaluation tools in the psychosocial field.Support the design and implementation of psychosocial programmes by UNICEF which can include the following:

Education:

Work Experience:

Languages:
